Pumpkin Carving

Last Year Ben was to young to really care to even look at a pumpkin let alone touch it... this year not so much he wouldn't put his hands inside the pumpkin but he did throw the guts all over the house he thought it was pretty fun...

( don't mind me I am really sick so i didn't bother getting ready yesterday)

Re-Decorating

I have been wanting to decorate our house for along time but i order for me to do it I have to have Kyles approval.. well after our trip Kyle seemed to really want to start alot of projects in our home... First was get these lamps he has been thinking about these for like a month now and fianlly decided that we were going to hang them in our house... Kyle lights them every night he is so excited every night when its time to light them... He wants ben to remember these lamps when he grow up...

Sadly the lamps didn't really match our home... so I said the only way you can get them is if I redecorate....

And Kyle said okay! (I was shocked)

Anyway we have started a ton of new projects.... Kyle is building a dining room table! I am really excited to have something he built in our home... He is also building me some wood frames and Ben a toy chest.

I have started some decorating and a few projects more pictures will come...

We have also started getting our yard ready for spring with some bulbs for next year! We love our old little home and wouldn't trade it for the world!

Sorry its been so long since I have posted I know I never finished our vacation!here are some more pictures!

We had such a great time! it was so good to be able to go see such amazing history! and to be able to share it with my parents!

Day 2 and 3

I will be quick because I have a cold and am way tired but we started off our 2nd day by taking the metro into D.C. it was congresses first day back and we didn't want to fight traffic would you?  The metro was nice clean and very fast totally think anyone wanting to go to D.C should take it!

Anywho we started our morning at the printing and engraving where we were able to watch money be made I actually thought this would be boring but its was really neat and the tour people were really funny... they had signs every where saying tomorrow only free samples and another saying how do you think I feel i print my entire lifetime salary in one day... we were watching them make 100 dollar bills and we were also able to see the new 100 dollar bills that are going to be coming out some time soon its going to be strange to have blue money...

Anyway after that it was off to the American history museum which had alot of stuff that was really neat... Kyle loved the Trains and cars through the years and I really loved looking at all the dresses of the first ladies through the years very interesting how much the style has changed!  then we were off to the white house just to look at it... We didn't get to go inside this time I was to late to ask my congressmen  I was amazed at the sight of big men in trees with guns pretty crazy to see them standing there... but it sure is a beautiful house!  Then we were back on the metro heading home Ben slept through the white house and the metro ride he was so tired.

The next day were drove back to mom and dads house and on the way we stopped in mount Vernon to visit Georg Washington's estate holy cow he was so right when he said there isn't and estate that is so beautifully situated the mount Vernon. So pretty! alot of interesting things there too!  Ben loved the sheep and Cows that they had and he loved that he could run around all over the grounds.

I still have to post about today but I will do that tomorrow!

Vacation Adventures 1

Vacation adventure 1 the airplane ride!

Ben loved to be at the airport we saw lots of planes and were able to run all over the place do blow fishes at the pilots as the came in for a landing… he loved it. All until we got on the airplane… 4 hours of sitting on Mom and Dad’s lap he was just not having it… but after we started taxiing out of the gate and getting ready to take off he was asleep in dads arms and we thought we were set for 2 hours of quite till he was done with his afternoon nap… boy were we wrong that nap lasted all of 45 minutes and then it was up and down and playing with all the toy I packed… Thankful everyone thought Ben was cute and no one cared that he was such an active baby… except for the guy in front of Kyle he was a jerk…. But we didn’t let him ruin our long plane ride. 

And then we were off the plane and got our things in the car and off we were to our hotel. We learned fast that NO one can drive here and they love to use their Horns for no reason they will honk the horns just to show they are in a bad mood. If you know how Dad is you can imagine that lovely car trip. So we decided to take the back roads to avoid any further traffic.  The homes out here are all pretty much my dream fixer upper homes they are so cute and old so they have a ton of personality.

The next morning we were off to D.C.  everyone and their dog (literally) we going to church so it took us forever to finally drive into D.C , it was the  catholic day to bless your  pets  so a lot of people were taking their animals to church. The weather was rainy and windy and it wasn’t very nice walking weather but that couldn’t stop us from walking the National mall! First stop was the Smithsonian though we were to the Air and space museum where Grandpa bought Ben his first space suit Ben was quite the attraction people were not only taking pictures of him but asking to take pictures with him he wasn’t quite sure about what to think about all these people paying so much attention to him but he didn’t seem to mind.

 After that we left the warm museum to head out on way to walk the 2 mile walk of the National mall.  The memorials were so worth the wait to come out. We were so sad not to be able to go in the Washington Memorial since the earthquake it has been closed but being able to look up at it was amazing!  War memorials we didn’t take pictures of it didn’t feel right to us but we were able to look and them and remember those who served for our great country and as always a great reminder that out freedom is never free. The best moment of the day was finally being able to see the Lincoln monument… He seemed really small to me after seeing close ups of him on the news but it was so amazing to be there. It felt un real to finally be there we headed back to the car due the crazy amount of rain that was now pouring down on us and that was our first day!
